Lately we've been hard at work traveling through 50 years of Bar Kays history for their 50th anniversary gala on December 4th. This week the Greater Memphis Chamber picked up the story and featured it here!
This week the GMC decided to look back to that feature and offer an update to its readers on these companies and where they are in the new year. While we have expanded in size and scope of work, we have also had the rare opportunity to work with three of the companies that made appearances on that list in various capacities ranging from educational career initiatives to a stunning gala that took an audience inside the most important messages of a transformational brand.
IN HONOR OF NATIONAL RECORD DAY (WHICH WAS THIS LAST SATURDAY, IN CASE YOU WERE WONDERING) WE DECIDED TO BRING YOU A FEW OF OUR MOST LOVED ALBUM ARTWORK OVER THE LAST FORTY YEARS, AND WHY WE DIG THEM.
You could say that we're kind of big fans of the art world; but that would be like stating that Boston is only mildly interested in the Red Sox, or that Samuel L. Jackson isn't REALLY in that many movies. Even though animation and the digital arts is our passion, we like to step back and appreciate some of the leading examples of creativity in all mediums and forms. That's why this week we put together some of our favorite pieces that you won't find hanging in a gallery or hard drive that have blown our minds indefinitely from around the world. Enjoy!
A couple weeks ago the Greater Memphis Chamber published a press release that forecasted ten companies to watch for in 2014, based on those who made great strides this past year and show great promise in the next. When we heard the news we were, well, a little excited. As a boutique creative studio taking up residence in downtown Memphis, we feel flattered to be nominated alongside organizations like International Paper and the Regional Medical Center, which both have the kind of reputation and accomplishments that we would like to have someday.
It has been quite a summer season for us as a studio. We have been busy both in and out of the office these past few months, and couldn't be more excited about it! Last month we threw on our suits and opened up a few bottles of the good stuff for a ribbon cutting from the Greater Memphis Chamber. We also used the ceremony as an excuse to throw an open house for our clients and friends around the city and celebrate a bit in high style.
This past weekend one of our fine animators was featured in the Horn Island 29 Reception at the Memphis College of Art, in debut of his collection entitled "Our Robot Shells."
From the microscopic cells to the mega universes, digital artists have been creating the natural world in CG software to give us a peek into the lands we only imagined in our wildest dreams. Don't let these videos fool you, they are unrealistic interpretations of the realistic events that happen underneath and around us every second of our day. For this week's post we bring you some of the best examples of 3D wonder from around the World.
Meet Nicolas Pflug, Senior animation student at the Memphis College of Art. In this week's blog we are featuring his short film entitled "The Amazing Hot Dog Wizard" that he created for his Senior thesis project. We had a chance to sit down and talk with Nicolas last week during our campus visit, and were struck by his energy and passion for animation.
This week are highlighting the work of Kevin Hobson, a graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design who has been creating 2D animated works over the last few years. Here's a bit of how he made "Mother's Craft" and his vision for this short film.
