Á LA CARTE is an original scripted dramedy [drama + comedy] about the misadventures of the black millennial dating experience and one girl's journey to the last place she ever thought she would end up ... on the side.
The series explores the hyper-sexual, superficial, ethically challenged nature of the millennial dating culture and its perilous effects on the self-esteem, integrity, values, and emotional health of our generation. By examining topics such as colorism within the black community, interracial relationships,"daddy issues," and trends like sugaring (engaging in intergenerational, transactional relationships); the series also forces us to confront some of the self-destructive behavior that contributes to our dating downfalls.
25-year-old Mahogany Rose has been an overachiever with high moral standards her whole life … until now. After adopting a more “liberal” approach to sex and dating, she finally lands the man of her dreams, Kaleb - there’s just one tiny problem: he has a girlfriend. Accustomed to being number one, Mahogany’s whole world is turned upside down now that she finds herself playing number two.
